Note also:
(a) Stepney is not in the list of hamlets since it was the only parish and therefore a village, not a hamlet. Its parish, St Dunstan, was founded 952.
(b) St George in the East is not in the list of hamlets either. The church was built 1715-29 and the parish was separated from St Dunstan in 1728.
